Happy Workers Pte Ltd (HWPL) is borne out of the idea to generate employment amongst the youth of Manipu-to empower them to be independent; raise standards of living; provide global exposure; and most importantly channelise their energy in developmental activities. Manipur is a state in northeastern India with Imphal as its capital. It is bounded by Nagaland in the north, Mizoram in the south, and Assam in the west. Myanmar lies in the east. The state is inhabited by three major ethnic groups- the Meeteis (including the Meitei Pangals or Meitei Muslims), Kukis and Nagas who speaks Sino-Tibetan languages. According to official reports there are about 30% of educated unemployed youths in Manipur. Although the rate of literacy is above national average at 75 to 80%, a high rate of unemployment exists, particularly amongst the educated youths. The region lags in development front far behind the national average. The continuing gap in infrastructural sectors within the country itself have resulted in industrial backwardness of the region despite abundance of human and natural resources. Infact, even today the availability of basic minimum services and amenities such as water and electricity is still marginal. Although it gained full Indian statehood in 1972 from its hitherto status of princely kingdom, the state is largely underdeveloped with unstable governance. Currently the state is under the throes of several rebellious groups against government policy. In partnership with the GOM (Government of Manipur) and HSDC (HASK SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE) a group of HWPL, the company took the initiative of pooling in these youths into a developmental program wherein they will be inculcated with employable skills and prepare them for employment in Singapore, Middle East and other parts of India. In doing so HWPL aims to provide a complete package of assistance in recruiting, testing, on-boarding and other relevant legal processes applicable to the respective country.
