Our brand follows in the footsteps of the artisans that once developed their crafts on the slopes of Bukit Larangan - the Forbidden Hill - during the time of Ancient Singapura. The thriving commercial port at the bottom of the Forbidden Hill provided both the wealth and the means to bring together artisans and merchants from all over South East Asia, India, Sri Lanka, China and the Middle East.  At today’s Forbidden Hill, we are creating lifestyle accessories in the ethos of that multicultural signature. The inspiration for our creations comes from all over South East Asia and is translated into contemporary designs in Singapore, at our studio a stone’s throw away from the Forbidden Hill. Our creations are then brought to life in carefully-selected, traditional workshops in Thailand and Vietnam in new combinations of materials and techniques mastered over centuries. From precious metal bangles with traditional hand-reeled Thai silks to individually finished Vietnamese lacquerwares, our products are contemporary keepsakes which celebrate the rich diversity of South East Asia.
